October 27th 2024

Monthly update:

This month saw us working with Cycling 4 Broxtowe and many local cycling groups to put on an event to help promote cycling on Saturday 26th October. It was well attended and everyone enjoyed seeing what we have on offer at Hemlock!

The next day we hosted our monthly maintenance day which was well attended and plenty was achieved!

Maintenance day:

We maintained:

OG Trail - Half way down the tabletop has had a new lip, landing and the roller/jump into the left corner has been given a face lift.

Free Ride Trail - We removed braking bumps before the shark fin at the top, re surfaced the two lips above that.

Berm Burner - Re worked the top section to make it more interesting, buffing up the corners in the process!

Committee members present: 3

Community volunteers: 10

Monthly observations:

Sadly in September we had some vandalism on the site, someone used blue spray paint to graffiti a handful of trees and the sign at the Hemlock Stone. Luckily our local MTB community banded together to use eco friendly methods of removing the vandalism and it was all cleared up within 48 hours of the damage. We haven't had any issues since.

Generally litter is low on the site which is an improvement on earlier in the year.

Future:

We aim to keep ontop of the trail conditions as we go into winter where we will re work some key areas on all three trails to make sure they work the best they can.

Still on our itinerary is:

  • New signage across the site.

  • Inclusion of a trail map and grading system

  • Notice board on site for live updates

  • Request at least one bin on the site from the Council

  • See if we can incorporate benches anywhere on the site.

Thanks for reading this months Dirt Diary and we look forwards to seeing you at the next maintenance day on Sunday 1st December 2024.
